Travel Dundee fare rise

Slightly of more interest to those north of the border, but Travel Dundee are having their annual fare rise a little later this year, on Monday 8th January 2007. This fits in with the start of the new Scottish Executive 16-18 year old concession card scheme. Like the London changes, the scheme is designed to encourage those to purchase prepaid tickets.

Adult single cash fares on most services will rise from 50p/75p/95p/£1.20 to 60p/£1.00/£1.00/£1.25. That is correct - the 2 stage fare (currently 75p) and the 3 stage fare (95p) are merged into one, for £1.00. The Daysaver rises from £2.50 to £2.60, and the Evening Saver also goes up 10p from £1.50 to £1.60. The weekly season ticket/bus pass goes down from £10.50 to £10.00, and the 4 Weekly ticket from £38.00 to £37.00, and the 10 week Student ticket is frozen at £69.00. The monthly pay-by-Direct Debit season ticket is unchanged at £33.00 per month.

The full details of the increase are now on the Travel Dundee website, and you can get an advance look at the new fares leaflet here, or (currently) by clicking on the link on my Techpark microsite.
