A quieter Saturday than of late

It’s a bit of an irony really – again! – as today marks four years since I started my current job. Yes, back in the evening of Monday 7th October 2002 (a Dundee local holiday), I started my initial training. I will talk a little bit more about the various “anniversaries” I have this month later – there are a few!

Post arrived – genetic appointment is going to be for the last Tuesday afternoon this month. So that’s good news.

Today, I spent some time tweaking things online – a lot of it was “backlogged”, some of it back to the point at the beginning of the year when my hard drive burned so badly (I’m still not over that…)

One of my online projects which is deemed to many as “very useful” is Techpark Transport – basically, a combination of bus timetables for services to & from Dundee Technology Park, where I work (usually – see above!). Travel Dundee are about to make some service changes from w/c 5th November*, including the 9x/10x, which is going up to every 15 minutes all day - that's double the current service, and the 14 will be serving Douglas and the Medipark, and there are going to be slight changes to the 29), I took the opportunity to tweak the layout a bit, and tidy it up (so many edits done online had left it being the mirror image of how it should have looked!). For the benefit of those at work, you can take a sneaky look now – the colour has changed to a yellow base, but not the same screaming yellow that I used to use back in the day!

In addition, started playing with my Blogger settings. You can now finally see my picture, and my profile has been all completed. (The picture was taken a few months ago now, on one of my visits to the nursing home in Newtyle where my dad & gran's sister now live). My links now include an “email me” link (guess that should have came before now!), as well as a new segment called “Not Blogs But Related” – these are a variety of people you will see me refer to as I go through the blog, but to save you hunting back for them later! These are all either companies of which I am a passenger/customer, or in one case a former employee, or in two cases, organisations who can help if you are in a similar situation to myself. Other blogs have been tidied up and duly updated. Comics are now a little further down. So, if you didn’t know me now, you are really going to be lost… but do keep with me!

*ANORAK MODE ON... The Transport (Scotland) Act 2000 says that the operators have to place a notice advising the public of the change 21 days in advance of service changes, and in addition, the Traffic Commissioners need to receive details 56 days in advance of service changes, and they publish the information daily online. The councils get 70 days head start on everyone. By the time I get back to work to tell everyone about the changes anyway, it will be the 16th, which is 20 days away from the 14 and 29 changes, and 21 days away from the 9x/10x changes. So, those of you who read this Blog, now get a little bit extra (you knew there was a reason you kept coming back...)
