Early doors
OK It’s early, especially for me, but I will be in a bit of a mad one this time tomorrow… actually I will be well on the way south! This will actually be my first stay away from home since my Barnsley trip in May/June last year… and my first pass-through London since the same weekend last year. Of course, that time I visited Brighton too – but for totally different reasons. In about 1150 or so miles time, I will be back – see you all then.

Summer Time Started When?
After being awake for 35 out of the previous 42 hours, I had a bit of a long lie to make up for it today. I woke up at around noon, which was of course only 11 hours, as the clocks went forward whilst I was asleep.
David said “I didn’t wake you up did I ?” and I for once tried to say “No…” completely unconvincingly… still, never mind, went back to bed for a lie-down, and ended up asleep until the back of four…
When having the radio on later, the comment was made “You know when you sleep too long, and you feel worse for it?”
Well, today I do.

The generator problem from yesterday was fixed by 1255 today. This meant I could start my normal shift at 1500 without issues. Shame really, because me, the duvet, and Eyore the plushie elephant, were all getting along so well…

Late changes of plan
With just a few hours to go, Adam says he doesn’t need his shift covered! Never mind… glad things have improved… but anyway I went out briefly for a few things. It was about as cold and windy as yesterday… no snow though! Now, quite a busy four weeks to come… I had to go out for the afternoon, but spent the evening chilling out with two rich, sweet americans... Ben, and his friend Jerry...

A day off…
A technical glitch (i.e. landline and broadband both gubbed – see all the previous rants about BT…) was quickly overcame temporarily, when I finally got the WAP on my new mobile to work… so, took the mobile back to bed, and decided to relax for a bit!
Then followed a huge sequence of calls, texts, messenger messages, and the like, as I tried to work out part of my plans for the rest of March, and most of April 2007. As a result, I can confirm that I am going away for a bit in April to see a couple of friends down south, whom I have met before, but it’s going to be a surprise for one of them! It also takes me to places I’ve never been before, and also it will hopefully help to reduce my chances of metaphorical “itchy feet” later in the year…
Perhaps slightly short notice, but a bit more than last time! I have been sent a snapshot of the promotional picture… yes, Friday week (23rd), The Illusion Principle are playing at Glasgow’s Barrowlands 2, alongside Second In Line, Net Kill Casino, and My Kindred Spirit. Tickets cost £5, and the gig starts at 2000 (8pm). If you can get along, please take this chance to come along and heckle Adam… lol… actually; don’t heckle him, as I’ll get yelled at for it…

At home – all day!
Yes, I had the day off! It is the first of two days that I’ve booked off this week. The agency holiday year runs out at the end of the month. Is it THAT time of the year already? So, why did I choose those dates? The Tuesdays & Fridays I did not select, just in case I got set back to my old “four days a week” shift. I have three medical appointments next week, so I didn’t want to confuse next week even further. That, and I might even qualify for another day off, having changed my hours… we might well find out early next month, when it’s too late…
… So what did I do with my day? It was warmish weather out (allegedly), I had a few pennies to spare (not a lot), where did I go? I sat at home and chatted to a certain American for almost the whole day…
… Time well spent, I think… and repaying his recent support and loyalty. Many days recently (when we’ve been chatting before I start my shift), I’ve felt like curling up in front of the pc, chatting for the day, and not bothering with the rest of the world… well today, I did!

Daylight Savings Time comes earlier every year
… ok, so it might seem that way… but this year, it genuinely does! Previously, this was one week after UK starting British Summer Time, I am sure. Now, it’s been moved back three weeks, apparently to save energy. So now, rather than being an extra hour apart for one week, the gap from the UK to the US is one hour shorter, for two weeks. Benefits? Well, it benefits those who live in the UK but want to chat to someone in the states working an early shift, before going onto a late work shift of their own… i.e. me…

Don't Be A Menace To The Security Guard In HMV, While Out Shopping In Your Hoodie
Yes, I went out shopping. If you like irony, have a read. I went out for a few things, and managed to set off the alarm at HMV when I went INTO the store. This naturally aroused the interest of the security guard, who offered to deactivate the contents of the carrier bag. He did so, and it still went off! Nothing was ”registering” as not decoded, so it was really unusual. So, I bought what I had gone in for – a cheap copy of….

So, I headed for home, left the purchases at home, then headed to the other side of the city centre (Nethergate/Overgate) for power cards. More extravagant spending- yes, a new handbag… my first main replacement for two years… and it was only £4.00! Also, found a new purse for £1.00… Further to Wednesday’s notes, the Dundee branch (Overgate Centre) of Stationery Box is closing (NOT becoming a Partners) –I guess it’s back to the one in Glasgow being closest (maybe Perth, who knows).

… yes, I have some time to unwind, after a fairly busy week! So, staying in for a quiet day, and shops tomorrow.

A quieter week ahead
Another day in the flat, with the usual weekend chores and tasks. Looking ahead, this would appear to be a straight forward week at work, with no appointments etc. coming up. Wait until the following week though, which will be all over the place... and so will I be!

Quiet Day
After the adventures of this week, it felt so right to be able to wake up at the usual time of 1000 again (for a normal weekday), but then to go back to bed for a few hours... after being up and about for about an hour. OK, so I needed it, but it did feel so good. Maybe because I am still getting out of my mind that I don't have to work Saturdays - for now at least. The shifts I am on (1500-2300) are all up for review in early March, so I may end up back on my own in time... who knows. Once I'd woken up in the early evening, got things ready for Sunday...

My Sunday Evening
OK, I am awake, and feeling better for it! Load two of three is doing the spin at the moment, and I have had a quiet evening in, watching Bridget Jones - The Edge Of Reason.When she's in the taxi near the end of the film, why does she go from the south side to the City (of London) via Picc Circus? Surely the cabbie made enough on the fare as it was... or was it just for the sign?Here's a useful freebie that I found via The Ticket Collector - BiTE - The Discount Card For Commuters. Freebie discount card, valid in most UK railway stations (but not for travel).News that I should have posted last week is that The Illusion Principle - the band with my colleague Adam Hobson as the drummer - have added some more gigs for March & April. They will be playing at Bannermans in Edinburgh, as well as King Tuts in Glasgow (yes, they've made it!), and then Barrowlands 2! Not a lot to say
A quiet day, but I was out for food & things. Not a lot of money right now, having had to spread it a bit thinner over the last few weeks - but I did manage to get two new pairs of shoes in a clearout, for £5 then £10. That should hopefully stop me slipping… well, half as much as usual. Home, and a chance to talk to Jay for the first time in a while… he was due to finish work around 1800 my time, but someone else was off, so he ended up working late! Emails are good, but I guess we both had a lot to catch up on.
